It has been a fantastic start to the school year!! The children are adjusting so well to our classrooms, and our daily routines are under way. We are looking forward to a fun month of October, starting with our Family Pancake Breakfast on Wednesday, October 2nd and Thursday, October at 3rd starting at 8:30. Details went home last week. Out themes are Fall Festivities and of course, Halloween!

Lunch time is going so well. Thank you all for cooperating with our NO peanut or tree nut policy. During lunch, we do our best to encourage the children to eat their healthy lunch first and then the treat if provided. An ideal lunch would be three healthy choices, as too many choices can be confusing. Please include a drink in your child’s lunchbox, labelled if it is a water bottle.

.

Thank you also for signing up for snack. We have had some wonderful snacks! Please keep in mind healthy eating is our goal! Fruit, cheese, veggies, yogurt, crackers are always welcome! Cupcakes for birthdays or special occasions are a fun treat. Muffins are always nice too (nut free recipes) if possible.

We are planning to go outside every day, weather permitting, so please dress accordingly. Also, please be sure to mark all clothing with permanent marker so that we can help the children find their new jackets. We are encouraging the older children to put on, zip and button their own jackets, as this promotes independence and helps to prepare them for kindergarten. Sneakers are best for outdoor play and the gym as the sand can be sometimes damp.

The dates for the Halloween Parties are Wednesday, October 30th and Thursday, October 31st. A sign-up sheet for party snacks will be posted on the door in the hallway. Please only sign up in the spaces provided to avoid snack overload. On the day of the party, the children will wear their costumes to school and we will have a short parade promptly at 9:15. Parents can wait in the gym while waiting for the parade. After our parade, please remove your child’s costume and take it home for safekeeping.

Please keep your calendars handy so that you can keep informed of our daily activities and theme weeks! It is also posted on our website under NEWS (eastontinytotspreschool.com). We are also in the process of preparing a group email in order to email important updates and class reminders. We would also like to share pictures every now and then! SEPTEMBER 2019

Posted by Joan Sullivan on September 26, 2019 at 11:20 AM Comments comments (0)

Welcome to Tiny Tots! We hope you all had a fantastic summer! We have many fun activities and themes planned for our school year. We are really looking forward to a busy and exciting year! Welcome back old friends and families! We can’t wait to get to know all our new friends and families! Let’s get started!!

Attached is the monthly calendar so that you are aware of our activities ahead of time. Often there will be a theme day or week, so you may want to keep your calendar handy. The newsletter is also posted on our website eastontinytotspreschool.com. To begin, we will be getting to know each other and get acquainted with many fun activities. The three-day class will be discussing feelings, friendships, school rules, and getting reacquainted! The two-day classes will be getting to know each other with some fun activities and games.

We will all be celebrating apple week as we approach fall. Activities will include apple graphing, apple stamping, apple tasting and apple cooking as well as many related stories. Children can bring in one apple of any kind to share with the class, for our taste test. The three-day class will be starting off the “letter of the week” with the letter “A”!

We will be going out daily, weather permitting. We would greatly appreciate it if you could label all outerwear with your child’s name inside. This will allow us to help each child identify his or her jacket or sweatshirt when it is time to go out. This is very helpful with the amount of children we have to get ready. Also, sneakers are best for outdoor play as we are running on sand.

Snack sign-up sheets are posted across from our classroom door if you are interested in sending in snack for the class. Your child will help pass out the snack on that day. Please provide for the entire class.

Just an important reminder: NO peanuts, peanut butter, tree nuts, or mixed nuts allowed for snack or lunch. Allergies are still being discovered, so we are a nut free school as a precaution. Also, we do have peanut and tree nut allergies this year, so extra caution must be taken. Healthy snacks such as fruit, cheese, crackers, veggies, yogurt, fresh muffins and breads, etc. are encouraged.

*****It is required that you sign your child in and out every day. There is a sing in sheet on the classroom door.

Payments are due the first week of each month. Please remember to put your child’s name and the month that the payment is intended for on each check. This will assure that your account will be properly credited. Place your payment in the mailbox by the cubbies.

Please send in your child’s updated medical form as soon as possible. This is a requirement by the state and is necessary for us to have in your child’s file. All medical forms must be updated yearly.

Planning ahead: Get Acquainted Pancake Breakfast is planned for early November, details to follow.

Keep updated on Facebook at Joan Sullivan, Tiny Tots Preschool. We will not post pictures of your child but may post news and information. Please tag us in any posts you make!

Tiny Tots is so lucky to have such amazing families that are sharing your little ones with us. We will do everything to make this a fun-filled and nurturing learning experience for your child. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let us know, either by phone 508-238-9131, email (eastontinytotspreschool@gmail.com, or in person.

April News

We are so looking forward to getting outdoors with some much needed spring-like weather! Since the sand will be wet, please, no open toe sandals, jellies, or crocs, as they can be quite uncomfortable in the cold and sometimes damp sand, and offer no support for running, climbing and walks in the pine groves. Sneakers with socks are best. Please label all new jackets too.

The three-day class has greatly enjoyed “traveling” week. Our visits to Africa, China, Mexico, Italy, and Ireland were filled with so many fun and interesting learning opportunities! The 3day children came in so excited each day to see what country was next! The children enjoyed sampling foods from the countries, listened to different languages and songs, and learned about the different cultures. They read some wonderful books pertaining to the countries and made many crafts as well. We hope you enjoyed looking in their suitcases! Also, thank you to all parents/grandparents who provided the delicious food.

The two-day class and multi-age class had a great time learning during their teddy bear picnic! The children had so much fun sharing their picnic with their teddies, and enjoyed songs and a wonderful parade around the gym! Fun games, crafts and stories were enjoyed too!

The month of April is here already! It is unbelievable how fast the school year is going by. On Friday, April 5th, the 3-Day class will be having Red Sox Day!! Please have your child wear anything Red Sox, if possible, as we will be celebrating Opening Day and the new baseball season with many fun activities.

The three-day class will also be celebrating Earth Week and learning about Recycling, the Rainforest, making an earth day promise, reading “The Great Kapok Tree” and even doing a little Planting! All classes will experience watching our caterpillars become butterflies!

Returning children, please remember to send in your September’s tuition, due in April to secure the spot for your child, as well as your registration fee if it has not been submitted. We have a full class and a long waiting list. This policy will be enforced so that any child on the waiting list can be contacted as soon as possible. Please remember to make a copy of your child’s new physical, as an updated one is needed for September.

We survived the winter thus far and are all looking forward to a wonderful spring and being able to get outside more! Please dress your child according to the weather. The playground will be damp though, so proper shoes are a must. Don’t forget to label new clothing such as new spring jackets and sweatshirts.

Our Valentine’s Day Parties were so much fun! Thank you to everyone who brought in goodies, treats, and gifts. The children loved receiving as well as giving their Valentine’s cards and had a great time playing the games and celebrating with their friends. Also, the children were so happy to share their “kindness hearts” with the class and we are so proud of their helpful and kind deeds during this very special month! We hope you enjoy your child’s silhouettes in the 3 day class. They are a nice tradition and a special reminder of Tiny Tots!

March 26th and 27th will be our school pictures! You will be receiving a form to fill out prior, however no payment is due until you see your child’s photo. They can be ordered online!

During March, the three-day class will be doing some of “traveling”. They will be visiting Hawaii, Africa, Mexico, China, Italy, and finally Ireland! They will be preparing for their travels by making a “suitcase” and a “passport”. They will be sampling many foods from these countries. When signing up for snack, please use the sign-up sheet for specific foods. If any parent would like to come in to the classroom to share an experience pertaining to any country, we would love to have you! At the end of our Traveling theme, the children will be bringing home their suitcase full of fun activities, goodies and crafts!

The two-day class will be having a Teddy Bear picnic! Your child can bring in their favorite teddy bear for this special day! Also, we will celebrate rainbow day, and may even have a visit from a tiny green leprechaun who loves to make mischief at Tiny Tots around St. Patrick’s Day! And finally, we will be welcoming Spring!!

For the children who are returning to Tiny Tots, September’s tuition is due by April 1st. This is a non-refundable payment to secure your child’s spot for the next school year. As we do have waiting lists in all classes, this policy will need to be enforced. If your payment is not received by April 30th, your child’s spot will not be secured. Please plan accordingly or talk to me if you need more time. If your child is scheduled for a physical, please don’t forget to ask for an updated medical form and submit it to Tiny Tots, as current physicals are needed for each new school year. We are excited to have so many returning as well as siblings!

Planning ahead … details to follow Art show/ice cream social Thursday, May 2nd (evening, 5-7)

Last Day of School … May 23rd and May 24th.

Summer Camp 3 Day Class only…weeks of May 28th and June 3rd.

February news 2019

Posted by Joan Sullivan on February 4, 2019 at 1:50 PM Comments comments (1)

This has been such a mild winter so far that the children have been able to go out at times! We will continue to venture out, weather permitting, so bundle up! They have also been very busy using the gym, and with our many theme weeks, they are happy and active! What a great group of children in all classes! We have seen so much growth in just a short time while at Tiny Tots!

The 3 Day class had a special visit from Jennifer Moriarty, a specialist at the Sheep Pasture. Jennifer presented a program called Adaptation Station, on how animals adapt in winter. This was a fantastic hands-on program that tied in nicely with our themes for January. We hope to have her back in the spring!

Our annual Valentine’s Day parties will be on Wednesday the 13th and Thursday the 14th. All children can bring Valentine Cards to school for their friends. Please have your child sign the back of the cards but do not put any names on the front envelopes. This will allow the children to pass out their cards on their own quickly. It is best if you send the cards in a zip lock bag marked with your child’s name on the front.

2-DAY: 20 children 3-DAY: 20 children Multi Age: 8 children (M/W and T/TH)

There will be a sign-up sheet on the doors across from the classroom with a list of items we need for our party. Please only one person’s name for each line to avoid too many treats.

Also, during the month of February, the children can bring in Kindness Hearts. These are hearts that we provide so when your child does a nice deed or act of kindness (i.e.: help clean up, help with younger siblings, shows a sign of affection), you can write it down on a heart and the children can bring them into school to share with their classmates. This is a great way to encourage your child to be especially nice during this month of love and get a pat on the back as well!

Parents in the 3-day class keep a watch out for a special letter from your child that will be arriving shortly before Valentine’s Day. They will be learning their addresses and phone numbers! Please let a teacher know which phone # is best for your child to learn.

PAJAMA DAY is always a fun day! Please send your children in their cozy pajamas on Feb 4th and 5h. Lots of fun activities are planned for this special day!

The 3 day class will be “traveling” during the end of Feb and early March. Countries will include Hawaii, Africa, Mexico, China, Italy and Ireland! If you have any experience with these countries and would like to share them with our class, please contact a teacher to plan it. We would love to have you!! Foods from the countries will tie in to our snack sign-up sheet. Again, talk to a teacher for any questions

REGISTRATION ALL classes at Tiny Tots are FULL! We are so excited that so many children are returning, as well as siblings! Tuition for September is due in April to secure your child’s spot. This will be necessary this year as we already have children on our waiting list. Thank you in advance!

School Vacation week is February 18th to February 22nd.
