Welcome to Tiny Tots! We hope you all had a fantastic summer! We have many fun activities and themes planned for our school year. We are looking forward to a busy and exciting year! Welcome back old friends and families! We can’t wait to get to know all our new friends and families! Let’s get started!!

Attached is the monthly calendar so that you are aware of our activities ahead of time. Often there will be a theme day or week, so you may want to keep your calendar handy. The newsletter is also posted on our website eastontinytots.com. To begin, we will be getting to know each other and get acquainted with many fun activities. The three-day class will be discussing feelings, friendships, school rules, and getting reacquainted! The two-day classes will be getting to know each other with some fun activities and games.

We will all be celebrating apple week as we approach fall. Activities will include apple graphing, apple stamping, apple tasting and apple cooking as well as many related stories. Children can bring in one apple of any kind to share with the class, for our taste test. The three-day class will be starting off the “letter of the week” with the letter “A”!

We will be going out daily, weather permitting. We would greatly appreciate it if you could label all outerwear with your child’s name inside. This will allow us to help each child identify his or her jacket or sweatshirt when it is time to go out. This is very helpful with the amount of children we have to get ready. Also, sneakers are best for outdoor play as we are running on sand.

Snack sign-up sheets are posted across from our classroom door if you are interested in sending in snack for the class. Your child will help pass out the snack on that day. Please provide for the entire class.

Just an important reminder: NO peanuts, peanut butter, tree nuts, or mixed nuts allowed for snack or lunch. Allergies are still being discovered, so we are a nut free school as a precaution. Also, we do have peanut and tree nut allergies this year, so extra caution must be taken. Healthy snacks such as fruit, cheese, crackers, veggies, yogurt, fresh muffins and breads, etc. are encouraged.

*****It is required that you sign your child in and out every day. There is a sing in sheet on the classroom door.

Payments are due the first week of each month. Please remember to put your child’s name and the month that the payment is intended for on each check. This will assure that your account will be properly credited. Place your payment in the mailbox by the coats.

Please send in your child’s updated medical form as soon as possible. This is a requirement by the state and is necessary for us to have in your child’s file. All medical forms must be updated yearly.

Planning ahead: Get Acquainted Pancake Breakfast is planned for October 4th & 5th, details to follow.

Keep updated on Facebook at Joan Sullivan, Tiny Tots Preschool. We will not post pictures of your child but may post news and information. We are looking forward to a FANTASTIC YEAR!

Tiny Tots is so lucky to have such amazing families that are sharing your little ones with us. We will do everything to make this a fun-filled and nurturing learning experience for your child. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to let us know, either by phone 508-238-9131, email (eastontinytotspreschool@gmail.com, or in person.

May News

This year has gone by way too fast! It has been a privilege to teach and get to know all of your children! All classes were amazing and we truly have the nicest children and families around! Thank you to all the parents for providing such delicious and nutritious snacks for the classroom throughout the year. Also, thank you to the parents who helped out in the classroom when we needed it. We will truly miss these very special classes of adorable children!

Spring has finally arrived and it’s that time of year where sunscreen may be needed daily. Again, sneakers are best for our outside activities and nature walks, as they are the most comfortable and safe. Sandals and jellies can be very uncomfortable and get filled with sand. If you want sandals, socks underneath are recommended.

Our Ice Cream Social and Art Show is Thursday, May 4th between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome! Children’s artwork will be on display in the gym. We will be serving ice cream sundaes. Thank you in advance to everyone who donated toppings! It’s always a fun night!!

On Monday, May 15th, the three-day class will be going on a short bus ride. Traditionally, the bus company has a brief presentation on school bus safety followed by a short bus ride. Children will practice getting on and off the bus safely. This is a great opportunity for the children to experience being on a big bus and hopefully will help with the jitters that may occur in the fall. The attached permission slip must be signed for your child to attend.

The three-day class will be having Outside Fun Day on May 22nd. We are planning to spend most of the day outside so be sure to apply plenty of sunscreen. This is always a fun-filled day and a great way to end the school year with many outside activities. The two-day class will be having Bubble Day on May 23rd, a fun tradition with many outside activities as well.

Last but not least, our “Graduation” and last day of school will be on Thursday, May 25th and Friday, May 26th. Graduation will be at Tiny Tots! School will end at 11:30 on these days. Details will follow in a special invitation. The multi day class will be holding their graduation on Thursday, May 25th for all children who attend Mrs. Donovan’s class. School will end at 10:00. Details to follow!

Summer Camp for the three-day class is May 30- June 2 and June 5-9. Sign-up now! Payments are due soon.

*** If you have a balance on your tuition account, would you kindly pay it in full by May 22nd, as the “books” will be audited and closed by June 1. Also, all tuition must be paid in full in order to attend camp (3-day only). Tuition for September was due by April 30th. Don’t forget to secure your spot for the fall as we do have a long waiting list.

We are certainly going to miss all of the children who are leaving Tiny Tots this year. We hope you will be able to visit as we love seeing our old friends grow!! We look forward to seeing many of you back in the Fall with the start of another busy school year!! We also have quite a lot of siblings attending next year, always so exciting for the little ones!

Thank you again – your children are perfect!

We hope you all have a very relaxing and safe summer!

It has been a very chilly Spring so far. We are looking forward to getting outdoors with some much needed spring-like weather! Since the sand may be wet, please, no open toe sandals, jellies, or crocs, as they can be quite uncomfortable in the cold and sometimes damp sand, and offer no support for running, climbing and walks in the pinegroves. Sneakers with socks are best. Please label all new jackets.

The three-day class has greatly enjoyed “traveling” week. Our visits to China, Mexico, Italy, and Ireland were filled with so many interesting learning opportunities! The children enjoyed sampling foods from the countries, listened to different languages, and learned about different cultures. They read some wonderful classic books, learned some new songs, and played games in the gym. Also, thank you to all parents/grandparents who provided the delicious food for these countries.

The three-day class also had a wonderful visit from Melissa Cottreau, Quinn’s mom, who provided us with a great gym class. An obstacle course, large motor skills, music and movement were part of our day! Thank you so much Melissa, the children had a blast!

The two-day class and multi-age class had a great time learning during their teddy bear picnic! The children had so much fun sharing their picnic with their teddies, and enjoyed songs and a wonderful parade around the gym!

The month of April is here already! It is unbelievable how fast the school year is going by. On Friday, April 3rd, the 3-Day class and multi-day class will be having Red Sox Day!! Please have your child wear anything Red Sox, if possible, as we will be celebrating Opening Day and the new baseball season with many fun activities.

The three-day class will also be celebrating Earth Week and learning about Recycling, the Rainforest, a Nature Walk, “The Great Kapok Tree” and even doing a little Planting! Watch your calendar for these fun theme weeks!

Returning children, please remember to send in your September tuition, due in April to secure the spot for your child, as well as your registration fee if it has not been submitted. Remember to make a copy of your child’s new physical, as an updated one is needed for September.

March News

We survived the winter thus far and are all looking forward to a wonderful spring and being able to get outside! Please dress your child according to the weather (hats, mittens, if necessary, and sneakers, shoes). We will be going out on days that are 35 degrees and above provided there is no snow or ice. The playground will be damp though, so proper shoes are a must. Don’t forget to label new clothing such as new spring jackets.

Our Valentine’s Day Parties were so much fun! Thank you to everyone who brought in goodies, treats, and gifts. The children loved receiving as well as giving their Valentine’s cards and had a great time playing the games and celebrating with their friends. Also, the children were so happy to share their “kindness hearts” with the class and we are so proud of their helpful and kind deeds during this very special month! We hope the 3 day class enjoys your child’s silhouettes. We hope they will be a nice reminder of Tiny Tots!

March 28th and 29th will be our school pictures! We are finalizing the details and will let you know before.

During March, the three-day class will be doing a bit of “traveling”. They will be visiting Mexico, China, Italy, and finally Ireland! They will be preparing for their travels by making a “suitcase” and a “passport”. They will be sampling many foods from these countries. When signing up for snack, please keep in mind our traveling days and please co-ordinate snacks with a teacher. If any parent would like to come in to the classroom and share an experience pertaining to any country, we would love to have you.

The two-day class will be having a Teddy Bear picnic! Also, we will celebrate rainbow day, and a very special visit from a tiny green leprechaun who loves to make mischief at Tiny Tots around St. Patrick’s Day! And finally, we will be welcoming Spring!!

For the children who are returning to Tiny Tots, September’s tuition is due by April 1st. This is a non-refundable payment to secure your child’s spot for the next school year, as we do have a waiting list in some classes. If your payment is not received by April 15th, your child’s spot will not be secured. This policy will be enforced this year as we have a substantial waiting list. Please plan accordingly. If your child is scheduled for a physical, please don’t forget to ask for an updated medical form and submit it to Tiny Tots, as current physicals are needed for the new school year.

Planning ahead … School Pictures will be on Wed. March 28th and Thurs. March 29th

FEBRUARY NEWS

Hopefully the winter will stay mild and the snow will melt soon so we can get back outside! The children have been very busy using the gym, and with our many theme weeks, they are happy and active! Pajama Day was especially fun for all of us!

Our annual Valentine’s Day parties will be on February 13th and 14th. All children can bring Valentine Cards to school for their friends on those days. Please have your child sign the back of the cards but do not put any names on the front envelopes. This will allow the children to pass out their cards on their own. It is best if you send the cards in to school in a zip lock bag marked with your child’s name on the front. 2-DAY: 20 children 3-DAY: 20 children

Multi Age: 7 children (M/W and T/TH)

There will be a sign-up sheet on the doors across the hall from the classroom with a list of items we need for our party. Please only one person’s name for each line to avoid too many treats.

Also, during the month of February, the children can bring in Kindness Hearts. These are hearts that we provide so when your child does a nice deed or act of kindness (i.e.: help clean up, help with younger siblings, show a sign of affection), you can write it down on a heart and the children can bring them into school to share with their classmates. This is a great way to encourage your child to be especially nice during this month of love and get a pat on the back as well!

Parents in the 3-day class keep a watch out for a special letter from your child that will be arriving shortly before Valentine’s Day. We will be learning our addresses and phone numbers this month too! Please let a teacher know which phone # is best to learn.

BEACH DAY will be a nice break from winter. Children will be able to come to school in summer attire and enjoy exciting activities pertaining to the beach! We will crank up the heat!

REGISTRATION for next year is filling up fast! Our 3 DAY CLASS IS FULL with several children on the waiting list. If you decide to send your child to a different school next year, please let us know as soon as possible, as we will be able to contact the next child on our waiting list. Our breakfasts are Wednesday, October 5th and Thursday, October 6th

at 8:30. Details went home last week.

Lunch time is going so well also. Thank you all for cooperating with our “NO peanut or tree nut” policy. We do have children with both a peanut/tree nut allergy in our school this year so we want to take every precaution to keep them safe. During lunch, we do our best to encourage the children to eat their healthy lunch first and then the treat provided. An ideal lunch would be three healthy choices, as too many choices can be confusing.

Thank you also for signing up for snack. We have had some wonderful snacks! Please keep in mind healthy eating is our goal! Fruit, cheese, veggies, yogurt, crackers are always welcome!

We are planning to go outside every day, weather permitting, so please dress accordingly. Also, please be sure to mark all clothing with permanent marker so that we can help them find their jackets. We are encouraging the older children to put on, zip and button their own jackets, as this promotes independence. We will keep practicing throughout the school year. Sneakers are best

for outdoor play and gym.

The dates for the Halloween Parties are Thursday, October 27th and Friday, October 28TH. A sign up sheet for party snacks will be posted on the door in the hallway. Please only sign up in the spaces provided to avoid snack overload. On the day of the party, the children will wear their costumes to school and we will have a short parade at 9:15. Coffee will be provided for parents while waiting for the parade. After our parade, please remove your child’s costume and take it home for safekeeping.

Please keep your calendars handy so that you can keep informed of our daily activities and theme weeks! We are also in the process of preparing a group email in order to email our schedules and class information as well. Please let us know if you do not want to receive emails from Tiny Tots. Also, there will be updates on Facebook periodically as well.

Tuition is due on the first of the month. A mailbox is located in the coat area for easy drop off.
